EARTH DAY APRIL 22
This year Earth Day falls on a Monday, so what better way to start your week and help clear the air than by riding MTA! By taking MTA Local and Commuter Buses, Metro Subway, Light Rail and MARC Train, you not only save money but also help save the planet by reducing greenhouse gases and other pollutants. So save yourself the aggravation of driving and discover the many reasons why riding MTA is a smart and healthy choice – not only on Earth Day, but all year round!
MAY IS CLEAN COMMUTE MONTH
May is nationally designated Clean Commute Month because it is the beginning of the ground-level ozone season, when Code Red and Orange Ozone Action Days frequently occur. On those days, motorists are encouraged not to drive their cars to work because pollution produced by cars causes ground-level ozone, or smog. Single occupancy vehicles produce 20% of the dangerous ozone-emission pollution in the Baltimore area. Using MTA buses and trains helps cleanse the air by replacing cars on the road.
CELEBRATE CLEAN COMMUTE MONTH AT THESE MARC STATIONS
Want to learn more about the benefits of commuting on MTA? Join representatives from Harford Commuter Assistance along with elected officials and other special guests on Wed., May 1 from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at Aberdeen MARC Train Station and also on Tues., May 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 a.m. at Edgewood MARC Train Station. Commuters will receive complimentary water, coffee, snacks and free giveaways. Information will also be available about ridesharing and the Guaranteed Ride Home program.
DUMP THE PUMP DAY JUNE 20
Thursday, June 20 is National Dump the Pump Day. If you're currently driving to work, we encourage you to try MTA and take advantage of the convenience and cost savings instead of sitting in your car stuck in traffic. Avoid those high gas prices and relax while riding Local and Commuter Bus, Metro Subway, Light Rail or Marc Train! |
