RIDE MTA AND GO GREEN!
With gas prices reaching record highs, there has never been a better time to ride MTA and “Go Green.” Each year, public transportation use in the U.S. saves 1.4 billion gallons of gasoline, or almost four million gallons of gas per day! One bus alone removes 45 cars from the road, and each of our MARC Trains carry an average of 975 passengers, removing more than 850 cars from the highways! The MTA now has 10 hybrid diesel-electric buses in revenue service, and has just ordered 30 more, due to start arriving in early 2009. Every year, as older buses are retired, they will be replaced by hybrids, which consume 23 percent less fuel than a regular bus, thus making the environment even greener.
