MTA CELEBRATES EARTH DAY!
The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is constantly striving to make their bus, rail and management operations as energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly as possible.

The 42nd annual Earth Day celebration will be Sunday, April 22, 2012 and this year’s theme is “Mobilize the Earth.” At MTA, every day is Earth Day, but on this Earth Day we are asking everyone’s help to mobilize the planet simply to say one thing: The Earth won’t wait. Every day that we continue to drive our cars, we also continue to pump tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, so our rivers, streams, lakes and oceans continue to become polluted along with our air.

Riding MTA Local and Commuter Bus, Metro Subway, Light Rail and MARC Train is the quickest and easiest thing you can do to help improve the environment.  Below are some of the activities the MTA is involved in during Earth Week, and we invite you and your family to join in the fun and learn more about sustainability, alternate energy, and the vital role that public transportation plays in helping to protect the planet.

MTA at Baltimore Green Works Eco Fest April 21
In celebration of Earth Day and as part of Earth Week, representatives from the MTA Baltimore Red Line Project will be joining thirty-four other vendors and exhibitors at Baltimore’s 9th Annual Eco Fest at Druid Hill Park on Saturday, April 21 from noon-5:00 p.m. Learn more about the proposed Red Line and the MTA’s energy-saving efforts at this fun-filled family event dedicated to environmental awareness and sustainability.
